Commitments that shape how we teach
These are not marketing statements. They are the design constraints we hold ourselves to in every workshop, webinar, and accompaniment session we run.
Why these commitments exist
Financial education in Colombia has historically been designed for formal sector participants — salaried employees with stable incomes, registered businesses with accountants, or investors with diversified portfolios. The informal economy, which includes a significant portion of Colombia's working population, has largely been left to navigate economic complexity without structured support.
Optima Gestión COI was built in response to that gap. Our commitments reflect what we believe responsible, practical economic education looks like for microentrepreneurs and independent workers operating in the Colombian market.
Each commitment below is a concrete promise about how we design and deliver our programs.
We teach concepts, not conclusions
Our role is to give you the frameworks and vocabulary to understand economic information — not to tell you what decisions to make. We explain what the IPC measures, how the Banco de la República's rate decisions ripple through credit costs, and what purchasing power parity means in practical terms. What you do with that knowledge is entirely yours.
This is not a hedge. It reflects our genuine belief that informed autonomy serves small business owners better than dependency on advisors.
Content grounded in Colombian economic reality
We do not adapt international financial literacy curricula and call it local. Our examples use Colombian data sources: DANE statistics, Banco de la República reports, and the specific cost structures of Bogotá's informal markets. When we discuss inflation, we discuss Colombian inflation. When we discuss minimum wage dynamics, we discuss the Salario Mínimo Legal Vigente and its actual implications for purchasing decisions.
Accessible without being simplified to uselessness
There is a real tension in financial education between accessibility and depth. We resolve it by being precise about what we simplify and why. We use plain language for concepts that plain language can carry accurately. Where a concept genuinely requires nuance, we take the time to build that nuance — we do not gloss over it with analogies that mislead.
No regulated financial advice
Optima Gestión COI is a training and education provider. We are not a financial advisory firm, an accounting practice, or a tax consultancy. Nothing in our programs constitutes regulated financial, accounting, or tax advice. We make this clear in every session and in our terms. Participants who need regulated advice are encouraged to seek qualified professionals.
Formats designed for working people
Our participants run market stalls, manage small workshops, drive taxis, sell food, and operate dozens of other businesses that do not pause easily. Session formats, scheduling, and delivery methods are designed with that reality in mind. We offer flexible timing, online options, and condensed formats precisely because we understand that time is not an abstract resource for our participants.
Transparent about what we do not cover
We are explicit about the boundaries of our programs. Topics that require professional licensing — tax filings, legal business registration, investment advice, insurance products — are outside our scope. We name those boundaries clearly so participants know when they need to look elsewhere, and we do not create confusion about what kind of support we provide.
How we structure learning
Each program format serves a different learning need. In-person workshops create the conditions for discussion, questions, and peer learning that are hard to replicate online. Webinars allow focused, topic-specific learning without requiring travel or a full day commitment. Accompaniment programs provide continuity — the ability to return to concepts, track how they apply over time, and adjust as your situation changes.
We do not believe one format is superior. The right format depends on what you need to learn and how you learn best.
